I know that may sound harsh, but it’s the truth.
The most successful Entrepreneurs are the best ‘Problem Solvers’.
Your clients engage with you, because they have a problem and you have the solution.
Your power lies in your solutions and problem solving is the process to get there.
Although problem-solving may come naturally to you, it does also take some skill to become more and more effective.
Here are my top three tips to becoming an exceptional problem solver:
1. Be Flexible
Flexibility is the ability to be open-minded and open to new opportunities and change.
Whether we like it or not, change happens!
Sometimes, we do not see it coming….
The current COVID-19 epidemic is a prime example of this.
It has forced many of us to change the way we work and impacted businesses MASSIVELY.
By taking a flexible approach, you will be able to apply different solutions to solve a problem.
Avoid getting caught up in sticking to a single solution, with the same old technique. One size, unfortunately, doesn’t fit all and your client’s needs will vary.
Have a toolbox of different tools & techniques YOU can use, when finding solutions for your client’s problems.
Apply flexibility in your approach, after all, nobody likes a stale solution!
2. Practice Self Discipline
When it comes to solving problems, you need to be focused and disciplined.
Self-discipline will enable you to effectively control yourself and remain focused on finding solutions to the problem at hand.
Constantly evaluating situations and exploring solutions to resolve them does require a certain level of discipline, which you must apply to become more successful.
By being self-disciplined, you automatically limit your distractions.
Practising daily will also help you to be fully committed to finding the best solutions each time; therefore, effectively serving your clients and achieving the best results you can.
3. Apply Lateral Thinking
Lateral thinking is the ability to think ‘outside the box’ when solving problems.
When you apply creativity & innovation to the way you think about the problem faced, you will begin to think differently about it.
Start by asking YOURSELF several questions about the issue and making solid conclusions that lead to good solutions.
Use your imagination to look at a problem in a fresh way and come up with a new solution.
Try going for a walk and allowing your mind to wander, mentally dig deep into the problems at hand, going beyond the surface and using your problem-solving skills to analyse each issue.
The solutions will appear.
Trust that YOU have them inside of YOU, they just need to be captured!
So, which of the above can you start working on straight away?!
